Where can we use it?
We can use our camera car almost anywhere. From racetracks to snow, our team are supported by specialist automotive safety advisors who guide us on what needs to happen to use our vehicle in all conditions.
How long does it take to set up UltraArm?
Setting up UltraArm takes around 25 minutes, plus another 15 minutes to configure the camera setup. Once the vehicle is ready, our team will do a safety check and dry run of the location to scout for any obstacles and hazards.
How much space is needed to set up UltraArm?
10m x 10m x 3.5m high is the minimum amount of clearance needed to build UltraArm.
How many crew are needed to operate MotoCrane?
At minimum, a crew of four is needed to operate UltraArm. This includes a Precision Driver, Arm Operator, Camera Operator and Focus Puller. We normally work with a Stunt Coordinator and 2nd Unit Director or 1st Assistant Director who manage the communication and planning of all vehicles involved in filming.
1st Assistant Director can make sure you’re getting the most out of the day in the safest way possible. We always bring a support van with us with a driver / technician to help with the build and adjustment.
Can UltraArm be used on any vehicle?
Our UltraArm can be mounted to all kinds of vehicles, from buggies to off-road 4x4’s. We know that different projects require different setups, and there may be other vehicles that are better suited than our Porsche.
How fast can you go?
On closed circuits, we can drive at speeds of 130km/h with MotoCrane. When using BlackArm, we can reach speeds of 160km/h on a closed racetrack.
How does playback work?
Our built-in Blackmagic Video Assist can play back your camera feed in a number of different formats. The video input on the Video Assist has extensive compatibility with a wide range of cameras, accepting 12-bit 12G SDI. All monitors inside of the Porsche are connected to the playback system, allowing the crew inside of the vehicle to review shots on the go. When connected to an optional wireless video system, your director and producers can watch the playback remotely as well.
